ROTTNEST ISLAND

OK.. OK.. I first confused you... It is not "Quokka Island" but "Rottnest Island"... Is it my fault if some Dutch sailors, a long time ago, mistook quokkas for rats before naming the island?... Honestly, how could they...

Anyway, we decided to get there by ferry (boarding at 7.30am) and visit it on rented bike ('til ~5.00pm). I have to tell you that cars are not allowed on the island, whereas wearing crash helmets is compulsory (whenever you ride a bike...)

So let me introduce you Géraldine and Thomas: my two teammates on this ride, wearing proudly their helmet !

OK.. to be honest.. the trailer with the Quokka is much better...

QUOKKA ISLAND !

First of all...

One thing you have to know is... to get there (from Paris) you first have to sit for 20hours in front of that. (see picture...)
Don't worry, there are plenty of movies, series, documentaries ... that you can watch on this TV screen.

If you are as lucky as I was, you may have to sit 1 row behind the most irritating person in the world (a French one ! what a surprise !). In less than 2 hours, she managed to annoy half the air hostess crew... A new record was set ! The show was unique... and somehow hilarious...

From Paris to Perth, there is a flight connection. Mine was in Dubai. Around midnight (local time), the landing in there was terrific. From above I could distinguish luxurious yachts illuminating the sea... very beautiful !

On this photo you can admire an "outstanding" view of the inside of Dubai airport... ;-)

I wanted to buy a new camera there. The one I need, the one I want, the one made for me ! But... despite the dozens of exposed cameras... "MINE" was not available...

Never mind... My phone-camera is quite sufficient ... And it is much more convenient in the way that I will have it with me most of the time !

Another 11 hours on the plane from Dubai to Perth (no sight of any French passenger on that one...).

You can sleep... eat... sleep again... eat again... talk with your neighbour... A 24-year-old Arabic girl studying in Australia...

And finally, you arrive around 6-7pm (local time). totally rested and not willing to sleep at all...

Then, I advise you to enjoy the sunset and a great stretching, bare foot in the sea !

hum... still not accurate enough...
OK.. Australia is huge... So I live on the West coast... 20km from Perth ... 5km from Fremantle...
Can't you see me?
OK, give me time to get used to all this "blogging stuff" and I'll send you some more news from here !
